California Department of Education Recommended Reading Lists This site provides a list of recommmended books for children, sorted by genre.
Colorado Virtual Library View resources for kids, teachers and more at this online library for the state of Colorado. The site offers extensive resources for kids on the history of Colorado as well as access to digital collections, historic newspapers, geospacial data and lots more.
Colorado Literacy Connection Links to various literacy resources nationwide including an online kids' "Teach-in", Checkpoints for reading, Colorin' Colorado, FamilyEducation. com, First Book, Public Library Association's Preschool Literacy Initiative and several others.

Houghton Mifflin Company Teacher’s Resources (Added 5/08) This publisher has put together worksheets, web links, and other teaching suggestions for several of its most popular children’s books and you can find them all listed at this website. Activities will vary depending on the target age group of the selected book.
Internet Public Library This site provides "an annotated collection of high quality internet resources" listed by topic.
Just One More Book This site offers regular podcasts about children’s books. In addition to the podcasts, you can also access recorded interviews with a number of children’s authors and find several book reviews on this site.
Juvenile Series and Sequels List from Mid-Continent Public Library- A listing of over 23,000 titles for children and young adults sorted by series.
Kids @ Random (Added 5/08) Random House’s website for it’s young readers features activities and mini-sites dedicated to some favorite Random House characters such as the Berenstain Bears, Thomas the Tank Engine, and the characters created by Richard Scarry and Sesame Street. Additional sites provide resources for teens and teachers.
Penguin Group Teachers Guides This website offers teacher’s guides for several classic titles that are published by Penguin Group.

Americana Phonic This sites audiocasts focus on important documents from America's history. The site also provides links to a variety of other useful resources, including additional sites for obtaining audio recordings.
Audio Books for Free This site lists a variety of audio books, avaiable free and sorted by category. A special section featureschildren's books only.
Bartleby This is the website of an internet publisher of literature, reference and verse. The site offers unlimited access to books and information on the web free of charge. Also on the site see a daily biography, definition, quotation and poem. You can purchase books at Bartleby or download the e-books free.
Bibliomania This site offers free online literature, with more than 2000 classics. Also on the site find study guides, search reference books, classic non-fiction, religious texts and more.

This site states that it provides “book reviews with a traditional family-values” angle. 141 book reviews were available on the site as of May 2007. The site also provides a list of additional resources for those seeking a Christian perspective on issues surrounding popular books. The site is maintained by Home Sweet Home Press and does carry some advertising content.
Children’s Literature
This website offers thousands of reviews of children’s books to paid subscribers. Non-subscribers can view the following features: Each month the site publishes interviews with children’s authors and illustrators. The site also offers teaching materials for several books and collections of book reviews based on selected themes.
